Charlotte Observer
“I don’t believe that half the people in Charlotte realize the magnitude of the Ford plant, and what it means to Charlotte,” said a leading business man of the city, one who has had just about as level a head as any man in town can produce.
“Why, that payroll will be something awful, and the bulk of that money will be spent right here in Charlotte stores. It is the biggest thing that charlotte could have gotten if it had tried the world over. And then it isn’t any mushroom business, springing up overnight and passing away with the morning. It is here to stay, and as Charlotte continues its pace in growth, the Ford plant will continue to enlarge. You see, it isn’t only Charlotte’s size and importance as a business center, but the city is situated in one of the finest spots in America, in this wonderful Piedmont section, than which is no finer in the world. Charlotte cannot fall—cannot go back. Her location, her momentum of people, her faith, all assure her greatness.
“Mr. Ford evidently looked the land over pretty well before he decided where to place his great plant, and that is one of the richest assets of Charlotte.”
