Gastonia, Dec. 5—Unknown parties entered the mill office of the Mutual Mills Inc., West Gastonia, Thursday night and stole the payroll of the night hands, amounting to a sum between $500 and $600. Superintendent Balck (Black?) had just left the office to attend to some outside business. He returned in a few minutes, saw a light on in the office and found the money had been removed from its drawer in a desk. Entrance was gained by breaking a window pane out and climbing in the office. The desk drawer was easily opened. No one not knowing the conditions could have made such a quick getaway with the payroll. There is no clue as to the identity of the robbers. The safe of the Texas Oil Company was blown here two nights ago.
