The wind blew down the rods holding the awning in front of McLaughlin Co.’s store Sunday afternoon and broke a $50 plate glass window.
Seven cars of dewberries were shipped from Raeford last week. Several small shipments had been made previously and since, and some truck their fruit to factors on the Seaboard and sell it for cash. Prices have brought smiles so far for this season.
Fayetteville now has a baseball team and opens the season Thursday afternoon with a game with Raeford in Fayetteville. A street parade led by a Fort Bragg band will feature the occasion. Fayetteville has several hired players. Raeford will take her boys from their work long enough to run over there and play the game. A return game between these teams in Raeford is set for June 30th.
Most of the dogs in Hoke will be vaccinated this month.
We are sorry to learn that the condition of Mr. B.R. Gatlin is not improved; he is critically ill.
Miss Flora McPhail is at home from Salem College.
Mr. George McFadyen leaves today for Lakeland, Fla.
Showers have fallen nearly in every part of the county, but they have been light in most localities.
Mr. and Mrs. J.R. Williamson and Miss Rena Williamson and Mrs. James Deen of Wendell were guests of Mr. and Mrs. E.R. Williamson Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. F.B. Sexton are attending the meeting of the Retail Hardware Dealers Association in Spartanburg, S.C.
