Teachers Who Don't Attend Church Will Lose Jobs in Moore County, July 22, 1925

Non-Christians Barred as Teachers in the Public Schools of Moore County

Carthage, July 19—Under the provisions of a resolution adopted last week by the Moore county board of education, no teacher will be employed in the public schools who is not a member of some branch of the Christian church or who does not attend church services.

The author of the resolution was not stated, but it bore the signature of John M. Wright, Chester O. Bell, county auditor; W.J. Harrington, register of deeds; J. Alton McIver, clerk of court; Dr. H.F. Underwood, O.B. Flinchum (and others) and the county board of commissioners, M.C. McDonal, (and others) and the county board of education, superintendent county schools, and three others, in all 14 individual citizens beside the county boards.
