War Mothers' Tea Raises Money for Legion Orphans, July 11, 1925

Social & Personal Column

Brilliant Tea Was Given by War Mothes Thursday. . . Benefit Affair Was to Collect Money for Legion Orphan Fund—Affair at the Home of Mrs. Ridenhour

One of the most beautiful receptions of the season was that given by the War Mothes Thursday afternoon from 5 to 7 o’clock at the home of Mrs. R.E. Ridenhour. The home, which has been the scene of many such events for years past, was cool and beautiful on this warm summer afternoon.

Specially beautiful were the masses of flowers scattered everywhere on the spacious porch and through the rooms.

At the front door the guests were received by Mrs. R.E. Ridenhour, who called attention to the basket held by little Miss Frances Gibson. After making their offerings, the guests were ushered into the living room by Mrs. S.A. Wolff and were there welcomed by Mesdames John K. Patterson, J.C. Fink and Watt Barringer.

From there they were shown to the dining room by Mrs. William Bingham. Here Mrs. W.A. Foil and Mrs. Giles Crowell served ice cream, cake and mints. After chatting a while in the hall, they were greeted at the side entrance by Mrs. Morrison Caldwell and Mrs. George W. Means.

A nice sum of money was collected for the Legion Fund to which the War Mothers had subscribed.
