Young Lover Takes Life

Harold Wilson, 17, of Easley, S.C., ended his life by firing a shotgun into his heart at Glenville Wednesday afternoon.

Disappointment over a love affair is believed to have prompted the act. Several photographs of a girl with whom he had been going were found beside him.

The coroner’s jury, following an inquest, returned a verdict of suicide.

Young Wilson had been staying for sometime with his grandfather Sam Wilson of Glenville. His father, Eual Wilson, lives at Easley.

According to the officers who investigated, young Wilson had obtained a 12-gauge shotgun, tied a string to the trigger, and pulled the string while he sat on the ground about 200 yards from his grandfather’s home. There were no eye witnesses. Death is thought to have been instantaneous.

The grandfather, hearing the shot, went to the thicket to investigate and found there found the body.

Surviving are his grandfather, father, two brothers and a sister. Funeral services were Thursday at Easley.
