Arthur Newsome's House Destroyed by Fire, Feb. 4, 1921

A single frame house situated in the negro section of town and occupied by Arthur Newsome, was destroyed by fire on last Saturday morning. The alarm was given between 8 and 9 o’clock Saturday morning; (words obscured) if efficient fire fighting apparatus was in place, it was completely burned up, together with all of its contents.

Immediately after the fire, the fire company, which organized after the last destructive fire in October 1921, announced that they would hold another meeting, presumably an indignation meeting against the uncertainty about such fires. The meeting was to have been held on Tuesday night, although the Herald has not received a report of the action taken at the meeting.
