Rev. B.J. Arnold, Lincolnton, N.C., Recalls HIs Years as Pastor, Aug. 11, 1921

By Rev. B.J. Arnold, Lincolnton, N.C.

I was in the state of North Carolina as a pastor when there were but only two annual conferences. Bishop J.J. Moore was the presiding bishop. In 1899 I was pastor of Haywood Circuit. I was transferred by the bishop of the Tennessee conference, Bishop T.H. Lomax, the presiding bishop. I organized two mission points in Asheville, N.C., and at that time I was pastor at Waynesville, N.C., and Hot Springs, N.C., then the Cleveland Station A.M.E. Zion Church, Cleveland, Tenn., from there to Isaiah Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church, Athens, Tenn., then to Thompkins Chapel, Chattanooga, Tenn. From Tennessee to Milton, Fla., the second best church in the West Florida conference. Later I was pastor of St. Mark Church, Alabaman, and in North Carolina, my home state, I pastored some of the leading charges, Sills Creek and Mooresville, Monroe, N.C., Albemarle, N.C., Big Zion, Soldiers Memorial, Salisbury, N.C., Lincolnton, N.C., and some of the leading charges in the South Carolina conference. And thank the Lord, I am still active.
