Charlotte, Jan. 11—Tom Williams, a negro, entered the residence of Mrs. W.S. Haines here on November 6. He failed to reckon with the possibility that Mrs. Haines might awake, and yesterday she told in court how she clearly saw the negro as he stook at the foot of the bed. The negro fled when she jumped out of bed, but was captured as a result of her description. He pleaded guilty to second degree burglary and was sentenced to serve 20 years in the state penitentiary.
