Kinston—Jones and Onslow counties have produced the finest tobacco crops since 1918, according to local warehousemen returning from “drumming” in that territory. The quality of the weed in those counties is superior to that in Lenoir and some of the central counties of the belt. The yield will be bumper proportions. The “stand” in Jones is far better than last year’s, while Onslow, not yet among the leading bright leaf counties, is believed to have made the largest crop in its history. Cultural conditions ever since transplanting days have been ”perfect” in the lower belt.
