Lincoln County History Featured by Newspaper

When searching the web for stories on ECA volunteer Sarah Nixon, I found a noteworthy series of local history articles at news@ norman.com, the online version of a community newspaper serving Denver and Lake Norman in Lincoln County.

When I think of slavery in the South, I think of field work and housework, so I was interested to read Ken Fortenberry’s account of African-Americans in the iron industry. African Slaves Brought Iron-making Skills to Lincoln County can be read at http://www.denverncnews.com/?p=1018.
