Most Tar Heel farmers
will find it necessary to depend largely on their own efforts, neighborhood
labor-swapping, and community work groups in solving their labor problem. In
the photo above, a group of Aulander residents, both children and adults, is
shown helping a nearby farmer pick his 1942 cotton crop. Similar work crews
will be much in evidence at harvest time this year.
