“Marshal Webb Reappointed,” from the Jan. 24, 1918 issue of the French
Broad Hustler, Hendersonville, N.C.
Washington, Jan. 10—The nomination of Charles
A. Webb of Asheville by President Wilson to serve four years more as United
States Marshal for the western district of
North Carolina which was confirmed by the senate Tuesday, was not
opposed from any quarter, according to a statement made today by Senator Lee S.
Overman. Recent reports to the effect that the confirmation would be opposed
were without foundation, said the senator. Neither was the nomination of
William T. Dortch to be marshal in the eastern district opposed.
