O'Conner's Grove Church Held Jubilee, Nov. 13, 1923

O’Conner’s Grove Has Testimonial

O’Conner’s Grove church recently held a jubilee under the auspices of W.H. and F. Missionary Society, Mrs. Panthea Shipp, president, and an old fashioned dinner was held in honor of the organizers. Testimonials were given. One of interest came from the only surviving member of the original membership, who was brought to the church. She is now feeble and blind, but gave praises to her God for so permitting her to attend. Brothers L. Sadler, E.S. Hall and others are active members here. Rev. Ramseur is the efficient pastor and leader.

The history on the church was given by Mrs. Maggie Steele, who said in part that the church began in her home, starting with cottage prayer meetings. These prayer meetings continued and grew in interest until it was thought to erect a church.

The names of the founders are: W.M. Steele and wife, Pinkney Williamson and wife, George Tate and wife, B. Hunter and wife, Wilson Ship, Sam Alexander, J.R. Reid. Out of this number only Mrs. Maggie Steele remains.
