N.C. Attorney General Sent to California to Get Peacock, Sept. 23, 1924

Manning Plans to Reclaim Peacock

Charlotte, Sept. 22—Governor Morrison announced late tonight that he had directed Attorney General Manning to proceed to California at once and that the latter would leave tomorrow to represent the state of North Carolina in its effort to have Dr. J.W. Peacock, who escaped from the penitentiary insane department of this state two years ago, brought back to resume serving his life term for the murder of Chief of Police Taylor of Thomasville, N.C.
