Asheville, April 6—Arrested on a charge of drunkenness Sunday night, J.B. Denis, 30 years old, attempted to commit suicide by swallowing the contents of a small bottle of Bichloride of Mercury while confined in a cell at police headquarters.
Attendants at the hospital reported to the police that the condition of the man is grave and that there are serious doubts that he will recover.
