Miss Waite and Sgt. Matos to Marry in May, 1925

Engagement Announced

Of interest to many in Southern Pines because Miss Agnes Waite spent her childhood and early girlhood here is the following announcement from the Raleigh Times:

Mrs. Minnie Curtis Waite announces the engagement and approaching marriage of her daughter, Agnes Louise Waite, to Andrew Matos.

Miss Waite graduated from the Raleigh High School and the Temple School of Washington, D.C., and has a wide circle of friends in this city and throughout the State. She is the daughter of Mrs. Minnie Curtis Waite of this city and is an attractive brunette of unusually pleasing personality. She was one of the most popular girls in her graduating class at high school and took part in all school activities.

Master-Sergeant Andrew Matos is from Ithaca, New York, where he specialized in photography at Cornell University, after which he entered the Army Air service and served during the World War. Since then he has been located at Boiling Field where he is official aerial photographer for the government, and is a young man of finest character and unusual artistic ability.

The marriage will take place May 9 at Edenton Street Methodist Episcopal Church, after which the couple will make their home in Washington, D.C.
