The time allotted by the State Board of Health for the Dental Clinics for this County closed April 9th. Dr. Sheffield has done a great work for the children of the County, and we can only wish that he had more time, so that he could have gone over the entire County. During the two months, the following work was done:
Children treated 989.
Amalgam Fillings 776.
Silver nitrate treatments 211.
Teeth extracted (deciduous) 536.
Children referred to private Dentists for further work 223.
Lectures on Oral Hygiene 32.
Attendance at lectures 1,795.
Cost of work if done in private office $3,299.
“In closing, the work in Person County I want to thank all who have helped to make my stay here pleasant and the Clinics a success,” N. Sheffield, D.D.S., State Dentist.
From the front page of the Roxboro Courier, April 15, 1925. Silver nitrate disinfects cavities and stops the progression of caries. It also permanently stains caries lesions black.
