For Every Dollar Spent, State Board of Health Saves Two, Says Editor, Aug. 7, 1925

State Board of Health

Of all the State departments, we believe that the State Board of Health is doing as much or more than any other State department for our people.

Dr. W.S. Rankin, the former secretary of the State Board of Health, has built up one of the best departments in the United States. Other States are turning to North Carolina for suggestions in the management of their various health departments.

Typhoid fever and diphtheria have practically been wiped off the map by preventative measures. The good results of the State Board of Health have been felt in Warren county to the benefit of our people in numerous ways as follows: elimination of typhoid and diphtheria and now we have an efficient county health nurse who is going night and day trying to wipe out of existence the high mortality death rate among infants and mothers which Warren county has enjoyed for so many years, and as a consequence Warren county is third from the bottom of among 100 counites in the State.

We believe every dollar spent in Warren county for health is bringing in two dollars as a return.
