Smith & Darden’s delivery truck, driven by Jim Moore, colored, was hit Tuesday afternoon by a car driven by John Write Register, son of Will Register, on Collee Street in front of the G.W. Fleming home, shortly after 4 o’clock.
The truck was leaving town loaded with groceries when the car hit it head on, the driver saying the sun blinded him. Young Register was thrown against the steering wheel and was hurt about the nose. Moore was cut by broken glass on the head and his companion, also colored, was thrown out of and under the car and had several bad lacerations.
The grocery truck was damaged in front, and milk, eggs, salt and grain scattered.
