Recorder P.S. Kornegay’s court during the Christmas and New Year season was not as congested as one might have thought it would be on account of the holidays. A few petit cases were disposed of with fines and short sentences. The list of cases disposed of since the last report published is as follows:
Jack Locklear and Ollin Strickland, Indians whose affray caused a hurry call to be sent to the sheriff’s office Thursday, were each fined $10 and costs.
Louise Green and Jennie Hall were sentenced to 30 days each in jail when found guilty of immorality. They were allowed to leave town with judgment continued for 2 years.
Ida McNeill was fined $5 and costs for an affray, and the prosecuting witness, Taylor McNeill, was also fined $5 and costs.
Fred Griff, vagrancy; 30 days on the roads.
Randal McNair paid the costs for a simple assault and a $25 fine for contempt of court.
Burnis McNeill, drunk; $25 fine and costs.
Henry Faison, charged with rape, was found not guilty of the charge, but guilty of prostitution and was taxed with the costs.
Janie Taylor and John Davis were found guilty of assignation and Janie was sent to jail for 30 days, to be worked at the county home, and Davis was sent to the roads for 30 days.
Archie Davis was found guilty of being “sad” drunk and was fined $25 and costs.
As the result of a raid by town officers, the following negroes plead guilty to gambling and were each taxed with the costs: E.A. McCoy, C.A. Smith, Clester McLaurin, Archie Faulk, Monroe Anthony, Isaac Graham, W.O. Floyd and Charlie Martin.
Howard Purcell was required to pay the amount of a board bill he was alleged to have beaten, and the costs in the case.
Calvin Hayes paid the costs for violating an auto law.
Carl Leak and George Bethea each paid the costs for an affray.
Roy Sullivant and Walter Williams were bound over the Superior Court for breaking into and stealing from a railroad box car.
Elmore Herring was fined $25 and costs when Recorder Kornegay found he had been on a “sorrowful” drunk.
Ed Rogers and the prosecuting witness were sent to the roads for 60 days for an assault and affray.
E. Graham, charged with being drunk and carrying a concealed weapon, was fined $25 and costs in the first case and $50 and costs in the second.
Frank Howell plead guilty to being drunk and paid $25 and costs in the first case and $50 and costs in the second.

Cain Dudley, Goodman Carlyle, George Campbell, Frank Howell, Frinn Powell and George Allen each was fined $25 and costs for being drunk.
David Bryan was fined $10 and costs for turning in a false fire alarm.
