The body of Pfc Samuel S. Locklear of the Marines, whose
next of kin is Mrs. Mary L. Locklear, Lumberton, Route 3, has been returned to
the United States from the Pacific area, according to announcement made by the
Department of the Army. His remains were among those of 5,806 Americans who
lost their lives during World War II.
Returned on this same ship were the bodies of T-5 Mallie
McBryde, Army, whose next of kin is Needham McBryde, Raeford, Route 1, and Pfc.
Graham R. Dew, Marines, whose next of kin is listed as Kathleen B. Dew, East
Laurinburg.
