From Fisherman and Farmer,
Elizabeth City, Thursday, Sept. 5, 1901
Col. Edward Savage Latimer, a well-known and highly esteemed
citizen of Wilmington, died last evening at 6 o’clock at his home, 208 North
Third street, after a lingering illness of several months.
Only this week Col. Latimer returned from a sanitarium in
Baltimore, where he was under treatment of some of the most skilled physicians
in the country, but all in vain. He gradually grew worse after his arrival at
home and his death came not wholly unexpected, but as a shock to his family and
numerous friends here and elsewhere.
