“Chapel Hill
Schools Have Medical Inspection,” from the Hickory
Daily Record, Sept. 25, 1916
Beginning
Wednesday, September 27, and continuing three days, the graded schools of
Chapel Hill will have a physical examination made of all school children now
enrolled. This arrangement was made by the school board who believes that money
spent for prevention is money spent wisely and that a healthful body is the
necessary foundation for a useful education. The work will be done by the state
board of health with Dr. T.M. Jordan of Raleigh as medical inspector.
The schools of
Washington will have medical school inspection also, beginning Monday, October
2, Dr. A.C. Bulla, under the direction of the state board of health, will do
the work. On finishing the work in the town of Washington, Dr. Bulla will then
examine the school children of Beaufort County. This town and county made
provision for this educational health work last spring.
