Dog tax collectors for all townships except Salem and Providence were appointed at the May meeting of the County Board of Commissioners Monday. Collectors for these two townships will be appointed at the June meeting.
The following are the collectors for Elizabeth City township:
Elizabeth City, Ben Emmett;
Newland, D.C. Temple;
Mt. Hermon, H.G. Bundy;
Nixontown, M.C. Stanley Sr.
The tax collectors are appointed under recent act of the Legislature sponsored by Representative F.F. Cohoon, the idea being that many dog owners are failing to list their dogs for taxation and that the only way to get up with them is to have a dog tax collector in each township.
