Elizabeth City, N.C., Sept. 15—Charges of manslaughter against Julian Newbern, growing out of an automobile accident which resulted in the deaths of three men and painful injuries to another and himself, were dismissed for lack of evidence when he was given a preliminary hearing here today.
The court first ruled a finding of probable cause against Newbern but reversed the decision when the prosecution indicated its believe that its evidence would be insufficient in a jury.
