Wilkesboro To Get Water and Sewer Lines, Feb. 6, 1924

Wilkesboro to Have a Water Contract Let for $35,716

The town commissioners of Wilkesboro last Friday night let contract to W.A. Ebert of Charlotte to install water and sewer in the town of Wilkesboro for the sum of $35,716. The contract calls for one mile of sewer. The water mains to be eight and six inches in size, and to run with main street to near Joe Johnson’s residence in east end of the town, and west with main street to Cherry, and with Cherry street north and south, and west with Main street to near the O.F. Blevius’ residence. It also includes other street connections not herein mentioned.

The water supply is to come from this place at a cost of 15 cents per 1,000 gallons. The connection will be made near the power plant and cross the Yadkin river and enter the town of Wilkesboro near the old jail back of the court house.

The contractors expect to begin work about the first of March, and will complete the job by June 1st.
