Traveling alone, except for a .45 calibre revolver, Nell Walker, a young white woman, has started on a tour that will take her all over the world in five years’ time. She started out from Los Angeles, Cal., on February 1, 1923, and is now covering the Atlantic states. She has visited many of the states of the union and plans to visit the capital of every state before she sails for Europe.
The young woman is “roughing it” on the trip. That is to say, when her day’s kike is done (she is footing it) she camps out for the night or stays in farm houses, barns or other places that afford a safe place to sleep. In commenting upon the dangers of this life, she declared that with her revolver nearby she was unafraid. According to the woman she Is making the hike in the interest of her health. She is working her way as she goes. When she reaches New York, she stated that she will secure employment until she earns money sufficient to pay her passage to Europe. When she visits Europe, she plans to visit Asia, the Orient, Honolulu and then back to her home in Los Angeles.
