Dr. A.W. Dula of Lenoir was here Monday evening, enroute to Jefferson, to fill his appointment there.

The little baby of Mr. and Mrs. Guy Fox of Boomer died Thursday. The burial was at Boomer Friday.

Mr. J.T. Hubbard of Wilkesboro is having his out-houses at his home residence in Wilkesboro recovered with tin.

Mr. L.B. Dula will attend the meeting of Presbytery at Mt. Airy next week from the Wilkesboro Presbyterian church. Presbytery convenes next Tuesday.

Federal court convened in Charlotte Monday with 352 cases on the docket—practically the same number that was on the Wilkes docket this past federal court.

The county commencement at Mountain View will be April 19th. Dr. C.E. Brewer, president of Meredith College, will deliver the address at 11 o’clock. Take a day off.

Mr. Lewis W. Yandle of Chester, S.C., and Miss Ila McNeill of Charlotte, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G.F. McNeill, of this place, were married in Charlotte, March 29th.

Mrs. Marvin Earp of Boomer died last Thursday in a hospital in Statesville, after undergoing two operations. The funeral services were held at Boomer Friday afternoon.

Mr. Felix Absher of Alleghany county died last Friday night. He was a brother of the late E.M. Absher. He is survived by one brother, Mr. Doc. Absher of Mulberry township, Wilkes county.

Mr. and Mrs. Joe Parkins intend to move to Winston-Salem about the middle of this month. Mr. Parkins has accepted a position as private secretary to the Vogler Bros. undertaking establishment.

The little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Triplett of Mount Zion, who was operated upon here at the Wilkes hospital in March, was still improving last week. Mrs. Triplett has been staying here in town.

The public school at Mount Pleasant in Lewis Fork, Prof H.O. Parsons principal, closed last Friday with appropriate exercises. County Agent Hendren was present that day for organizing the poultry-raisers.

Mrs. R.N. Garner, who was operated on at the Wilkes Hospital April 1st for appendicitis, has since been recovering, her friends are glad to learn, of whom she has many as one of the county’s teachers. Rev. Mr. Garner was here Monday.

Mr. Moses Triplett, 78 years of age, federal soldier, and Miss Lydia Hall, 28 years of age, both of Denny office, Elk township, were married last Friday in Wilkesboro by Esq. P.E. Lenderman. Mr. Triplett’s father lived to be over 100 years old.

Dr. W.G. Stewart, veterinarian, who was badly hurt in a collision 30 days or more ago in Greenville, S.C., was able, several days ago, to be out. The muscles of his left hand were paralyzed, accompanied by internal injuries, the street car running at full speed. He was in a hospital for some time.

Elkin Times: Mr. Harry La Mar, of North Wilkesboro, was a business visitor here a few days ago. He is considering seriously the thought of engaging in the jewelry business here within the next 60 days, if a satisfactory location may be secured. Mr. La Mar was located at Mount Airy some time ago, moving later to North Wilkesboro.

Mr. Thornton McNeill was seriously sick the latter part of last week.

Another son near Boomer of Mr. G.A. Eller has pneumonia.
