Two of the state’s leading negro educators have received substantial promotion in the past two weeks. Dr. Shepherd’s school at Durham is being converted into a college of rank A, and he becomes the first president of the college. Dr. Bluford, for a number of years dean of the A. & T. College, Greensboro, and Dr. J.B. Dudley’s right-hand man, succeeds the scholarly and common-sense Dudley who died a few weeks ago as president of that important school.
