From Leicester

Miss Hattie Roberts of Marshall, N.C., is spending the week end with Miss Pauline Duckett. Miss Roberts won high honors as a student in art at Anderson College, S.C., and at present is attending the Asheville summer school.

Mr. and Mrs. E.W. Bale and Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Miller made a motor trip to Old Fort last Sunday.

Mrs. Texie Rogers of Cullowhee was recently a guest of Mr. and Mrs. C.B. Hayes.

The friends of Mr. W.S. Martin, who formerly lived on the Marshall Road, will note with pleasure that he is recovering after an operation at the Merriweather Hospital on Wednesday night.

Mrs. W.E. Roberts, her son, Wade, and daughter, Alberta, spent last week end with friends at Blue Ridge.

Born to Mr. and Mrs. Herman Brown Saturday, June 13, 1925, a son.

Mr. Dan Foster has returned home after a year spent as a student at Chapel Hill and has accepted a position with the Carmichael Drug Co. of Asheville.

Several Leicester teachers are attending the Asheville summer school, among whom are Misses Hattie Mae and Mayme Garrett, Hattie, Hildreth and Ellen Jarvis, Mrs. J.C. Lunsford and Arnold Smith.

Mr. Norman Andrews of Charlotte was a guest Monday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. M.B. Reeves.

Miss Mae Sluder spent last Monday with friends at Mars Hill.

Mr. and Mrs. Herman Stevens recently visited Mr. Stevens’ parents, Rev. and Mrs. A.B. Dennis, at their home in King’s Mountain.

Miss Merkie Sluder spent last week with relatives in West Asheville.

Mr. Charles Pitts and Mr. Tony Davis made a hurried trip to Morristown, Tenn., last Sunday.
