A.A. Tarlton Disbarred for Three Months, July 11, 1925

Lawyer Suspended

Several days ago at Laurinburg Judge T.D. Bryson held a hearing relative to disbarment proceedings which had been instituted against Mr. A.A. Tarlton, a member of the Wadesboro bar. The proceedings, which were instituted by Mr. J.C. Sedberry of Rockingham, grew out of the fact that some years ago, Mr. Tarlton, representing certain creditors, collected money from Hart Bros. Co., which later failed, and did not at the time pay all the money received to the creditors. He paid part of the amount, but some misunderstanding arose and the remainder was left unpaid until Mr. Sedberry, representing the creditors, got a judgment against Mr. Tarlton. The judgment did not give Mr. Tarlton credit for the money he had paid, but later the amount due was paid and the matter settled.

Messrs. H.H. McLendon, T.L. Caudle, Frank L. Dunlap and W.K. Boggan attended the hearing on behalf of Mr. Tarlton.

After hearing the matter, Judge Bryson continued it for three months and issued a restraining order forbidding Mr. Tarlton to practice law for this period of time.
