Call Me Uncle or Skyuka or Mimosa, but Not Colonel, July 23, 1925

Uncle Bill Stearns Vigorously Denies Military Appellation

“Uncle Bill” says he never was a “kernel” in any man’s army, although his brother wore shoulder straps bearing the silver eagle.

“I’ve been called ‘Skyuka Bill,’ ‘Mimosa Bill’ and ‘Uncle Bill’ without a kick, but at this I balk.”
