Mrs. L.C. Wallace of Carthage visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.M. Tyson, Tuesday. Mrs. G.H. Simpson, G.H. Simpson Jr., and Misses Elizabeth and Madeline Simpson left Saturday for Madison where they will spend some time with Mrs. Simpson’s father.
Miss Mary Alice Patterson of Manley is visiting her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. A.J. Keith.
Miss Ruth Wooten of Cameron was a Sunday dinner guests of her sister, Mrs. P.W. Joyner.
Mr. and Mrs. Stacy Brewer went to Carthage Tuesday.
Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Alexander of Goldston visited at the home of Mr. W.F. Alexander Sunday. Miss Mildred Gunter has returned from a visit to relatives in Hamlet.
Mr. A.M. Cameron went to Buie’s Creek Sunday. Mrs. Cameron and Marian, who has been visiting relatives there, returned home with him.
Mr. A.K. Thompson and family spent Sunday afternoon in Cameron.
The Methodist Missionary Circles will hold their meetings on Tuesday of next week. No. 1 will meet with Mrs. T. Frank Cameron at 3 o’clock. No. 2 will meet at the home of Mrs. A.K. Thompson.
Mr. and Mrs. W.F. Thompson spent the last week-end with relatives in Greensboro.
Ralph Jourdan of Gulf is visiting his sister, Mrs. Gus Murchison.
Rev. B.C. Thompson and daughter, Miriam, of Mt. Gilead, were in town Saturday. Mr. Fred Thompson and daughter, Helen, returned to Mt. Gilead with them for a visit.
The program given by the Epworth League Sunday evening was greatly enjoyed the visiting societies. An interesting talk was made by Miss Jewel Edwards, a duet was sung by Misses Vivian Matthews and Elizabeth Byrd, and a short play, “Something Lacking,” was given. The next joint program will be held at the Presbyterian church on the second Sunday evening in August.
Mr. and Mrs. W.L. Brooks of near Jonesboro called on Mrs. G.W. Brooks Tuesday afternoon.

Mr. and Mrs. D.B. Cameron Jr. of Durham spent Sunday night at the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. Cameron.

Mrs. P.W. Joyner and baby spent Tuesday with home folks in Cameron.
Miss Marjorie Leslie was the guest of her cousin, Miss Grace McNeill Sunday.
The Christian Endeavor Society enjoyed a most delightful outing on Wednesday afternoon of last week. The members assembled at the church grounds and form there went to the beautiful old country home of E.L. McNeill, which is only a few yards from the river. A swim was enjoyed and then supper was spread on the picnic table under the trees. The picknickers greatly appreciated the kindness of Mr. and Mrs. Matthews, who live there, as they did so much to add to the pleasure of the occasion.
Mr. Oswald Alexander of Carthage visited his brother, Mr. W.F. Alexander, Tuesday.

Mastin Miss Alice Mastin, New York City; Miss Annie Mae Bell, Washington, D.C., who is private secretary to the chairman of the U.S. Shipping Board.
Velma L. Wilson passed away at his home in Monroe on last Saturday morning, after an illness of several weeks of heart trouble. The funeral service was held in Monroe that evening, and the body was brought to Vass Sunday morning for interment in Johnson’s Grove cemetery.
Mr. Wilson was the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. W.D. Wilson of near Vass, and was well known throughout the community where he spent his boyhood days. He had been in the employment of the Seaboard Railroad Co., for a number of years. The family has the sympathy of their many friends in their bereavement.
