Julia Petrea, 4, Recovering from Surgery After Run Over By Car, July 10, 1925

4-Year-Old Boy Run Over by Auto Friday Night. . . Operation at Concord Hospital Shows No Serious Injuries

Julia Petrea, 4-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. John Petrea of Kannapolis, was run over by an automobile Friday night driven by Miss Dora Ritchie, also of Kannapolis.

The injuries were thought to be very serious at first, and he was rushed to the Concord Hospital where an operation was performed. A hasty examination prior to the operation had indicated that there were internal injuries, but it was found that there was no hurt of a serious nature.

The accident occurred in Kannapolis on Ridge Avenue near the Cabarrus Mill. Mr. and Mrs. Petrea and three children had started to church and were crossing the street. In some way, the boy lagged behind his father and mother and ran directly in front of the car as it came up the street.

Miss Ritchie and her brother-in-law, who were in the automobile, were unable to stop in time and the fender hit the child, knocking him down. One of the wheels passed over his body. His condition was said to be very favorable this morning. It is expected that he will be able to leave the hospital in a few days.
