Mrs. M.M. Gillon died Here Saturday Evening. . . Had Been Ill for Several Weeks—Funeral Services Held Yesterday Afternoon

Mrs. Mary Kimmons Gillon, widow of the late M.M. Gillon, and one of Concord’s oldest and most beloved women, died Saturday evening at 7 o’clock in the Concord Hospital, where she had been undergoing treatment for several days. Her condition had been so grave for a week that little hope had been entertained for her recovery.

Mrs. Gillon was 81 years of age and had spent the greater part of her life in Concord. She was married November 27th, 1866, to M.M. Gillon, seven children having been born to the union. She had been a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church and was a member of the First Church here for many years.

She is survived by the following children: Rev. W.A. Gillon of Selars, La.; L.M. Gillon of Kannapolis; B.M. Gillon of Salisbury; and Miss Claire Gillon of Concord.

Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at 5 o’clock at the First Presbyterian Church, conducted by the pastor, Dr. J.C. Rowan. Interment was made in Oakland cemetery.
