Mr. and Mrs. John Lanier of Norwood were visiting Mrs. Lanier’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. E.W. Gaddy, Sunday.
Mr. James Thomas and Misses Anna and Rosa Parker were visiting in this section Sunday.
Mrs. P.B. Beachum and children spent Sunday with her mother, Mrs. J.F. Gaddy.
Miss Ramelle Lee is spending a week in Norwood, guest of relatives.
Mr. and Mrs. John Gaddy and Mr. Jimmie Gaddy carried Miss Alice Gaddy to Charlotte Tuesday to enter school.
The Anson County Singing convention which was to have met with the Polkton Baptist church the 31st was held with Weightman church instead, on account of the serious illness of Mrs. Charles H. Martin who lived just across the street from the church. The next convention meets with Brown Creek on the 5th Sunday in August. Any choir in the county is urged to join. The Weightman church welcomed the convention and hopes to have it meet with us again soon.
Mrs. Fleet Lee of Ansonville spent a part of last week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Gaddy.
Miss Callie Belle Lee of Charlotte was at home for the singing convention.
Mr. and Mrs. Tell Lee visited Mr. and Mrs. Brady Martin Saturday.
Mrs. J.T. Mills had as week-end guests her two sons, Mr. Roy of Chapel Hill and Mr. Jack of Mt. Croghan, S.C.
Mr. Sam Allen and family spent Sunday with Mrs. J.H. Lee. Mrs. Lee also had as her guest for last week Miss Tice of Wadesboro.
Mr. J.E. Efird recently visited his son, Mr. E.L. Efird of Winston-Salem, and attended Billy Sunday’s meeting.
There will be an ice cream supper, also cake and sandwiches for sale at the home of Mr. S.B. Lee next Saturday, June the 13th, from 4 p.m. till 11 o’clock for the benefit of Weightman church. Everybody is extended a most cordial invitation to be present.
Mrs. J.T. Mills recently visited her daughter, Mrs. Wendell Stone of Dobson, also her son, Mr. T.C. Mills of Albemarle.
Misses Nannie Lou Hancock and Ruby smith are home from A.N.I.I. at Albemarle. We welcome them home.
Miss Bema Gaddy entered the Anson Sanatorium to take training last week.
The Burnsville high school students gave a play, “The Path Across the Hill,” at Polkton Saturday night.
Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Ballard and Mrs. Mauney and Mrs. J.D. Parker, all of Ansonville, were welcome visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. S.B. Lee Wednesday.
Several from this community attended the funeral and burial of Mr. Martin McKenzie at Norwood Friday, the 5th. He had been ill for quite a while and died at the Charlotte Sanatorium.
Mr. Kemp Turner is spending a while with home folks, also Mr. Guy Turner of Charlotte is home for the week-end.
