Last Sunday night Mr. William Gunter, a former employee at the dam, returned there, it is reported, and took Mr. Parker’s pants while the latter was asleep. Mr. Parker awoke as the intruder was leaving. Suspecting is identity Mr. Parker and one or two others came to town and waited at Gunter’s home until he arrived. According to the evidence, Gunter confessed and returned the pants and nearly a hundred dollars that were in the pockets.
No complaint was lodged against Gunter at that time. Monday he was arrested by Sheriff Ingram on the railroad between Prentiss and Franklin. Gunter waived examination before magistrate Carpenter and is now in jail awaiting August term of court.
