Jim Collins, Accused of Murdering A.C. Sedberry, Lost Arm While in Jail, Sept. 2, 1925

Negro Returned to Anson County. . . Jim Collins, Charged with Murder of A.C. Sedberry, Had an Arm Amputated While Confined in Iredell Jail Statesville Daily

Sheriff W.F. Braswell of Anson county was here yesterday and removed Jim Collins, negro from Iredell jail. Collins will be tried in Anson Superior Court next week, charged with the murder of A.C. Sedberry in Anson county July 19th.

A few days after the murder, Collins was captured in Cabarrus county by a posse and brought here almost immediately for safe-keeping. In the capture he received a load of shot in one arm resulting in a wound that necessitated the removal of the arm at the shoulder. This was done at Davis hospital here, and for many days the life of the negro was despaired of However, he has recovered entirely from the wound.
