Duke Gives $200,000 to Kittrell. . . Announcement Is Made at Conference of African Methodist Church at Greensboro

Greensboro, Nov. 22—Following announcement Saturday at the session of the annual meeting here of the Western North Carolina Methodist conference, African Methodist Episcopal Church, that B.N. Duke of New York has given $200,000 to Kittrell College for negroes, located at Kittrell, the conference suspended business and prayed for the recovery of Mr. Duke from is present illness. A resolution was also adopted thanking him for the gift. The conference voted to meet next year in Hamlet.

According to Wikipedia: Kittrell College was a two-year private historically black college from 1886 until 1975, in Kittrell, North Carolina. It was founded in association with the African Methodist Episcopal Church. After the college closed, many of its facilities became the Kittrell Job Corps Center campus. It is formerly known as the Kittrell Normal and Industrial School, and Kittrell Institute.
