W.R. Baxley's Death Reported Jan. 2, 1926

Death and Funeral of Mr. W.R. Baxley

Rozier, Jan. 2—The death of Mr. W.B. Baxley was indeed sad. Friends had expected his death for several weeks. Death occurred at Pittman hospital, Fayetteville.

The remains were brought home and laid to rest in the family burying ground at Great Marsh. The funeral was conducted by his pastor, Rev. J.L. Humphrey of Rozier church. Mr. Humphrey paid high tribute to Mr. Basley, having been raised up with him, said he had never seen a wrong act of his in his life. He died singing “amazing Grace, How Sweet the Sound.” The floral offerings were indeed beautiful. One wreath was given by the 7th grade of the St. Paul School, of which his son Almond is a member. He leaves a wife and three children. We extend to the family our deepest sympathy.
