Ella St. Clair Thompson, Spruce Pine, N.C. Suffragette

With the election fast approaching, I thought it might be appropriate to put up information on one of North Carolina's leading Suffragists. Women would not have the right to vote if people like Ella St. Clair Thompson of Spruce Pine hadn't worked to get the Constitution amended.

On the back of the photograph of Ella Thompson: "Mrs. E. St. Clair Thompson of North Carolina is one of the strongest supporters of the Congressional Union for Woman Suffrage. She is their Southern field secretary, and has organized conventions for them in many of the Southern states."

She's listed as State Chair of the National Women's Party, an organization that worked to amend the Constitution at
