Homemakers
Wilkes County hosted the annual Northwestern District NCEHA
council meeting and leadership training workshop attended by 165 Extension
Homemakers from the 15-county district November 5 in Wilkesboro.
The main objectives of the workshops conducted for the nine
program of work leaders were to develop effective leadership and training for
county leaders and to inform them of national and state EH projects.
Ellen Clodfelter, district president, conducted the business
session. A special guest was the NCEHA president Catherine Turner of
Reidsville.
Speaker was Mrs. Nancy Willis of Greensboro, whose topic was
Touch and Glow. Though blind, Mrs. Willis travels extensively, speaking to
groups like Extension Homemakers. She stirred the audience with her enthusiasm.
The following new officers were installed by Evelyn Brann,
advisor: President, Alline Whittington of Wilkes County; first vice president,
Margaret McGrady, Alleghany; second vice president, Pat Seal, Surry; recording
secretary, Phyllis Blare, Wilkes; corresponding secretary, Gladys Banner;
treasurer, Margaret Shew; and advisor, Ellen Clodfelter.
