A white man who worked in Pee Dee Mill No. 1 named W. Tom
Collins was arrested last Friday afternoon in the mill by Deputy Marshal Tomlinson
of Fayetteville and carried before U.S. Commissioner Guthrie. He is charged
with using words in a sermon on June 9th at a school house near
Morven that were calculated to give aid and comfort to the enemy (Germans). Mr.
Guthrie required him to give a $500 bond for his appearance for trial on July 5th.
