Corp. Gardner Dies of Wounds, Private Williams and Corp. Tucker Missing, Private Holder Severely Wounded, 1918

Washington, Aug. 10—The marine corps casualty list today shows 11 killed in action, 5 died of wounds and 9 severely wounded.

The army casualty list showed 64 killed in action; 28 died of wounds; 3 died of disease; 2 died of airplane  accidents; 4 died of accidents and other causes; 102 wounded severely; 102 wounded degree undetermined; and 211 missing in action.

The following men from North Carolina were included in the list:

Severely wounded: Private Albert G. Holder of Clayton.

Wounded degree undetermined: Sergeant General Henderson of Canton.

Missing in action: Private Alonzo Williams of Bailey and Corporal Osco Tucker of Aurel Springs.

Died of wounds: Corporal William S. Gardner of Magnolia.
