Jerry Dalton Granted New Trial By Governor, Feb. 6, 1920

Mountain Youth Shot Sweetheart and Beau

Asheville, Feb. 6—Jerry Dalton convicted in Macon county of murdering his sweetheart and her beaux, who was sentenced to the electric chair, has been granted a new trial by the Governor and is in the Buncombe county jail awaiting the trial at the March term of the Superior Court in Macon. Along with two other prisoners he is confined to an isolated section of the jail and is suffering with influenza. None of the cases among the prisoners is reported as serious. Jailer Ed. Williams, who has been ill with the influenza for several days, is reported slightly improved. Rob Roy Kinkins, convicted of violating the liquor laws and who is now serving his sentenced, is reported to be suffering from an attack of influenza also, but his case is said to be a mild one.
