Mrs. Mary Hassell Died Suddenly, June 12, 1923

Sad Death Here Last Sunday. . . Mrs. John L. Hassell Passed Away Very Suddenly. . . Was Ideal Citizen. . . Largest Funeral Procession in History of Williamston

Mrs. Mary Hassell died Sunday after an illness of only a few hours, being taken Saturday night, suffering from nausea until 6 o’clock Sunday morning, when she ?? in a state coma and never rallied, passing away at 1:15 p.m.

She was the daughter of Elder Sylvester Hassell and Fannie ?? Hassell. She was born in Wilson ?? years ago. Her mother died when she was about five years of age and she was taken in the home of the late William ?? and Wife, Constance? Slade, her aunt, with whom she lived until their death. It is ?? her that she never committed an act of disobedience in her early life, and that she always asked in the most gentle, kind and loving manner ?? from her early youth until her death, and no one has been heard to mention even one fault in her.

Her life was pure, sweet and noble, and full of the graces that a just world prizes so ??

In June 1914 she married John L. Hassell, which ?? produced happiness and peace, ?? only by the hands of death.
