Roy Miller, 10, Injured at Work, June 10, 1923

Young White Boy Is Run Down by Machine. . . 10-Year-Old Roy Miller Sustained Powerful Cuts and Bruises When Knocked Down by Ford Coupe Which Carried No State License Late Yesterday at Union Station—Bicycle Demolished

Roy Miller, 10-year-old so of Mr. and Mrs. C.J. Miller of 123 ½ Pasteur street, was knocked down and painfully bruised and scratched and his bicycle demolished when run down by a Ford couple driven by Mr. Hubert Hall of Vanceboro at the entrance to the union station yesterday afternoon at train time.

Young Miller, who is employed by Miss Mamie Sadler as a delivery boy, was coming down Griffith street toward Queen and as he started across the entrance to the station court the Ford came around the Fairview hospital corner and, according to Mr. Hall, before he was able to apply his brakes, struck the boy and bicycle. The youngster was thrown to the pavement and though he sustained several cuts and bruises about the body and arms, he escaped being run over by the machine. A box of groceries which he was carrying on the handlebars of the bicycle were scattered about the sidewalk when the car struck and its front wheels ran over those of the bicycle.

In the coupe, which carried no state license tag, were Mr. Hall, its driver, Mrs. Rufus Armstrong and her brother, Joe Styron. After the accident Mr. Hall offered his assistance to the boy and went to see Miss Sadler relative to adjusting any claims for the injury of the victim and damage to the bicycle.
