Bob Jones and his son-in-law, Bizzell Locklear, Indians, are in jail here and Bailor Jones is in a serious condition at his home as the result of a shotting which occurred last night near the latter Locklear’s home two miles northwest of Pembroke. According to Sheriff R.E. Lewis, who with Deputy A.H. Prevatte and Rural Policeman R.C. Miller when to the scene, the shooting took place following a quarrel among the men, and Bob Jones claims that he was cut with a razor by one of the men in the row, but would not give the name of the man who did the cutting. He has an ugly gash on the side of his face. Both of the men in jail are charged with the shooting, but as far as could be learned only one shot was fired. A 16-gauge breech-loading shot gun was found in Bizzell Locklear’s bed, and 24 shells loaded with No. 6 shot were found in his overcoat near the bed. The shooting took place about 7 o’clock, but the officers were not notified until about 11.
When the officers arrived near the house in which Bob Jones and Bizzell Locklear and their wives were, they were told that it was very dangerous to go to the house. The officers went on and upon their arrival at the house the door was opened and the men surrendered without trouble. The men in jail are charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill. The lead took effect in Balor Locklear’s thigh, practically the entire load of No. 6 shot taking effect.
