Spencer, June 10—Seized with what was supposed to be an epileptic spasm to which he was subject, Edward Canter, aged about 25 years of High Point, was drowned in the Yadkin River at Grubbs Ferry two miles from Spencer Tuesday. It is said a party of fishermen from High Point was fishing at various places near the old ferry sight and that the other members of the party left Mr. Canter seated on the river bank at a convenient place to fish and had been out of sight for an hour. On their return they found he had fallen into the stream where the water has considerable depth and was drowned. His body was recovered and sent back to High Point for burial. It is said Mr. Canter was unmarried and had been in High Point only a few months.
